- Review Installation Instructions: Before beginning, review the provided installation instructions. It's crucial to adhere to local plumbing and building codes.
- Use the Actual Sink for Cutouts: Due to natural variation in fireclay, it's recommended to use the actual sink for cutouts rather than relying solely on templates or specification drawings.
- Inspect for Damage: Unpack the sink and thoroughly inspect it for any signs of damage. If everything is correct, keep it safely in its protective packaging until you're ready for installation.
- Consider Professional Installation: Undercounter installations can be intricate, so entrust the job to trained and experienced professionals for a secure and efficient installation.
- Work with a Partner: For safety and to prevent damage, have two people work together during the installation process.
- Support the Sink: Fireclay sinks are heavy, so ensure proper support from underneath. Install a 25mm thick shelf in the cabinet under where the sink will be, cutting out holes for the wastes and ensuring accessibility for attaching the tap.
- Position and Trace: Position the sink upside down on the benchtop and trace around the outer edges to mark its placement. Draw a second line inside the marked line at the appropriate distance based on your sink's specifications.
- Cut and Polish: Carefully cut out the benchtop along the inner line drawn. Polish the inner edge for a smooth finish.
- Place the Sink: Sit the sink on the prepared shelf in the cabinet.
- Seal with Silicone: Apply flexible watertight silicone to the top of the sink. Avoid using epoxy or any other solid adhesive as they can cause the sink to crack over time, voiding the warranty. Wipe away any excess silicone immediately.
- Install Waste and Tap: Proceed by installing the waste in the sink and cutting a tap hole in your desired location. Apply silicone between the top flange of the waste and the sink to create a watertight seal.
- Allow for Curing: Allow the silicone to cure undisturbed for a full 24 hours before using the sink. This ensures a strong and reliable bond.
